There is no air conditioning and the temperature of our room was horrendous! What a shame when they have worked so hard in other areas. Would we go again? Only if they rectify this issue!..."

Really enjoyed our stay other than that and hope to return sometime soon. The other room amenities where of a very high standard, but it would have been nice to have had a drying rack for the washing instead of having to use the dryer (this would save on the hotels electricity bill too)..."

Everything was very clean, including all kitchen facilities and dishes and the bathroom. We had a balcony facing Auckland harbor and skyline through a wonderful Pohutukawa tree in front, just perfect to sit in the evening with a glass of wine and some cheese and watch night falling and Auckland skyline lights change within this...."

"like another reviewer said - make sure you get the room that you paid for - we paid for harbour view - but could barely see the water if we craned our necks from the balcony - we spoke with management and they shifted us to a genuine harbour view room. one thing you will need to know before you book is what you plan to do with your days and how you plan to get there - we went to all places by car - and have to say that Lake Road is like one enormous cul-de-sac and rarely does it move near the speed limit - once we realised this and factored in a bit of extra time it was fine - and the ferry is very accessible - but we wanted the convenience of the car so we just allowed more time...."

You can catch the ferry across to the CBD with the complimentary ferry tickets or, if you have a car, Devonport village is only 10mins drive away for great restaurants. The gardens and breakfast room decor could use a bit of work so that they match the apartment look and feel, but the food for breakfast was good. The staff were very friendly and tried to be helpful but need some education on the local tourist attractions and what to see...."

"This is a very nice place to stay!!! We had a family holiday with 2 couples and a young baby and enjoyed a luxury 2 bedroom suite on the top floor. It was relaxing and we had a lovely view of the ocean and city, (the other side has a view of the sea and the harbour bridge). The decor is very pleasant and we had our own laundry and a full kitchen and air conditioning. The staff are all very helpful and friendly too. Definately would stay here again!..."

"Superb hotel, we had an apartment with large lounge, very comfortable bedroom, kitchen that included hob, microwave and a dishwasher, and there was even a washer dryer in the well fitted bathroom. By far the best hotel we stayed in during our 4 week, round the world trip. The breakfast offered was a buffet and though not a huge selection there was plenty, however there are only 6 dining tables It was a 5 minute walk down to the ferry from Bayswater to Auckland city but the hotel offers a free shuttle service to the ferry if you require it. Free internet access too. Great place to stay and recommended...."

"Superb staff, nothing too much trouble. Room was very nice with great views of harbour from most rooms. Really nice kitchen area in rooms, great showers, beds comfy, free parking. Good food in restaurant - had butter chicken and roghan josh curries, really fresh green salad sides and homemade naan and chutney. Hardly anyone used the restaurant and the hotel felt quiet, probably not marketed enough or maybe people think it hard to get to city which it's not, the hotel will give you a free boat return every day, it's 5 minute walk to ferry and then 10 minutes to downtown Auckland on a great mode of transport which gives you extra opportunity to see the skyline,etc. Ferries are frequent am and pm and every hour otherwise, finish at 9pm during week but much later sat/sun. Hotel also very close to Davenport village - nice place to chill for a day with lots of cafes and nice shops, restaurants. Free parking and wifi too although wifi is limited to 200mb per day, unless downloading films or such then more than adequate. Breakfast was included in our rate, basic breakfast of a good yoghurt, muesli/cornflakes, toast and jams/butter, and good fresh fruit but you can pay for a fry up or suchlike. Oh free parking big bonus for us too. V quiet. Really happy we picked the hotel and would stay there again without looking for other places. Didn't use gym but there was a treadmill, weights platform and rower..."

"Auckland Takapuna Oaks is an ideal location for those looking to stay in close proximity to all the attractions that Auckland has to offer, but without the noise and traffic jams of downtown. It's conveniently situated across the bay (known as Shoal Bay) with wonderful views of the city skyline. This serviced apartment has all the basic amenities that this type of accommodation has to offer. Our room was very clean and tidy with a decent sized kitchen featuring an electric stove, dishwasher, fridge, etc. The living room is small but cozy, with a flat screen TV and a small dining table. All rooms on level 1 and 2 have balconies which is fantastic. Our bedroom was quite large for a serviced apartment with an equally large bathroom fitted with a front-load washing machine. The apartment is approximately 16 minutes from downtown, a short drive across the Harbor Bridge (Hwy 1). It's also a 5 minute walk from the Devonport marina and offers free ferry rides into the city center that takes only 10 minutes. Free parking is also available on site which is an added bonus. This serviced apartment is ideal for couples and even families, with great facilities including dining, a bar, and also a small gym. We'd definitely stay there again during our next visit to Auckland. Highly recommended...."

"This is an excellent place to stay for a few days if you are happy not to be in the CBD. Because the hotel provides a free ferry crossing from Bayswater into the centre being out of town is not really an issue (though weekend ferries are infrequent and finish early). The rooms are spotlessly clean with good facilities that are well maintained. Laundry facilities in the bathroom are an added bonus and we also appreciated the free wifi having been charged as much as 8 dollars a day elsewhere. The restaurant/bar has a spectacular view of the bay and harbour bridge and serves reasonably priced food from a limited menu. Staff are friendly and helpful. Complimentary continental breakfast is adequate without being exciting but again in many places we have visited it would be a chargeable extra. All in all very good value for money. Would certainly use it again...."

"If one is traveling to Auckland then staying in North Shores probably makes more sense. It is relatively easier to drive around and the views of downtown are amazing. Takapuna Oaks which is more a serviced apartment than a hotel will probably rate very high amongst all north shores hotel. Checking-in was a breeze and the rooms are really spacious. We booked a regular room but got upgraded to harbor view. The view was amazing. The room has everything one can need in an apartment, down to in house washer and dryer. Takapuna Oaks provides complimentary ferry passes to Auckland CBD which makes it a breeze. The ferry terminal is probably less than a km from the hotel. We didn't eat in the hotel but there are lot of choices nearby. We were sorry that we stayed one night in Auckland. I wish we stayed longer and enjoyed Takapuna Oaks more. During our 17 days stay in New Zealand this was probably the best hotel we stayed in...."

The hotel had a shuttle bus to the ferry but at weekends the Bayswater ferry only ran occassionally. The hotel ran us to Devonport where the ferry at weekends runs more frequently but we had to relly plan our time in the city to get one of only two ferries back to Bayswater on a Sunday afternoon. The shops were also a long way away but the hotel gave us a lift up there (and back) when we first arrived to get some basics for our evening meals. Everyone was very helpful but a car would have made it a perfect place to stay...."

We'd already stayed in the middle of Auckland at the beginning of our holiday and this night was at the end of our month around NZ so we decided to stay somewhere not quite so central (and pay car parking fees). We got a good deal on lastminute.com and found ourselves in a huge room on the top floor with all the mod cons. It's so close to the city! The view of the city at sunset from the room and the restaurant was breathtaking. The dinner was good and the restaurant is small and cosy. The staff are lovely. Breaky the next morning was downstairs and very good (and included in the room cost). Shame we only had one night - this would be an excellent base for a longer holiday in Auckland...."

I thought we had booked a king, on arrival we were told all of the rooms had queen beds, however the bed was very comfortable a pleasant surprise. Evening drinks in the Sky Lounge were a delight, very comfortable with the gas fire place on, a great option to also dine in the lounge - good basic meal, the continental breakfast is a winner as well. The staff were friendly , we arrived a couple of hours early but was not made to feel this was a problem and the room was soon made ready. Everything in the kitchen incl.salt/pepper,dishwash and handwash clothes sachets,washing machine powder for the washer/DRIER . minibar even incl. headache tablets. Across the bay from the centre, which we wanted as a respite from city centres on our round-the -world trip. Good choice on Booking.com.We hired a car from the little Auckland International airport,but they have a free minibus to take you to the ferry and local pretty seaside town, Devonport. Free wi fi in room and free pc in lobby, great views of the city from the upstairs lounge, from where you can get a decent value meal.Continental breakfast included,but full cooked American if you wish to pay extra. Wet room shower, balcony,barbie if you wish to cook outside. Accomodatiom- like most service it is about the macro and micro. The macro is the great rooms, the micro is every detail covered better than almost ant other room we have stayed in. Thje only extra we would have liked would be air-con.We slept with the patio door open for a breeze in NZ autumn, but it may have been hot in the summer...."

The staff member at the front desk was friendly and helpful when I arrived earlier than expected. Overall I thought was very good value for money, with lots of facilities which unfortunately I didn't have time to take advantage of. Maybe next time- I have booked again for my next visit in 4 weeks...."
