"Rooms are modern, well appointed, spotless. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, and responsive to every request for assistance (tourist advice, directions, baggage storage, late check out, etc.). The manager is outgoing and interested in his guests. The hotel is just a short walk to the passenger ferry to downtown Auckland and the hotel provides a return voucher. You can get to the city quickly and easily without the hassles of parking a car. There is plenty of free parking at the hotel and wifi is free and fast. The breakfast buffet could be more imaginative. It is basic though not sub par.Review..."

"“A gem in Auckland” Our source of recommendations of places to stay is a combination of Lonely Planet, Tripadvisor and other tourist booklets. Once in Auckland, we knew that from such an abundance (but also extremes of accommodation) could result in the wrong choice! That said, head and shoulders above all others was the Auckland Takapuna Oaks – ‘too good to be true we thought’. How wrong could we be. The young man on Reception could not have been more efficient and welcoming. The rooms (lounge, bedroom and bathroom) were superb; so much so that we thought that the rooms were brand new, not 3 years old. The wifi worked, we could ‘park’ our toilet bags by the side of the hand basin, the waste bins were a decent size. We had a washing machine and yes were given free (£10) return ferry tickets. At a $149 NZ including breakfast no 5 star superior, expensive hotel could match the Auckland Takapuna Oaks ....... and the ferry ride was great especially viewing the city at night from the water. Specially Recommended...."

"“My home in Auckland” I am amused with the hotel name. It is neither in Auckland nor Takapuna and I saw no oak trees but don't let that deter you. I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is an apartment hotel with a living area, bedroom and big bathroom overlooking the bay and city. There is a pull down bed in the living area if need be. I was really impressed with the room, amenities and attention to detail. Good TV, free wifi, work and eating area, kitchenette with fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher and crockery and utensils etc. The washing up powders and liquid was available if you needed to clean up before the service staff attended to your room. The bathroom has its own washing machine with washing powder provided. The bathroom was spacious and had all the necessary toiletries. Comfortable bed and good cupboards. I was in the room one day when the service staff came in. There were 3 of them and they were in and out under 5 minutes. The reception staff are a charm all by themselves - always cheerful and friendly and happy to help as much as possible. My daughter has befriended them and ensures we get special treatment when we stay there. The complimentary ferry ride to the city from the Bayswater quay is a good deal - walk to the jetty and arrive in downtown Auckland - to the PwC office. What a pleasure! The breakfast is nothing to write home about though. I could only do 2 of the 8 days I stayed there. Toast, yoghurt and boring cereal is not enough to wake up early for. But my own stock of breakfast goodies supplemented this well. My wife stayed there in May and recommended that I do the same ... and we will be back the next time either or both of us are in Auckland. Room Tip: Bay view on the upper floors. Check for the features set out in the review above...."

"“Excellence in Auckland” After enduring afternoon peak hour traffic from Auckland airport to the city, it was a welcome relief to arrive at our lovely two bedroom apartment at the Takapuna Oaks. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, as were all staff during our brief one night stay. The apartment was very modern with all amenities you could wish for. We didn't have time to use them, but the kitchen and laundry facilities in the apartment would be great for a longer stay. The harbour views were beautiful with large balconies outside the living and bedroom areas to sit outside. The hotel is an easy five minute stroll to the Bayswater ferry wharf, and with free ferry tickets available from reception and a 5 to 10 minute trip to Auckland from the apartment's north shore location, it is ideal as a base for exploring this beautiful harbour city. Continental breakfast is included in the dining room and cooked to order hot dishes are available on request at reasonable prices. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff. I would definitely stay for longer next time to enjoy their other facilities and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Auckland wanting a beautiful and peaceful location...."

"“Excellent Apartment Hotel in Beautiful Location” Shortly after our arrival in Auckland, we stayed at Takapuna Oaks for two weeks and had a wonderful time. Firstly, the location is perfect - peaceful, yet accessible and with beautiful views from the Harbour View Suites across Bayswater Marina and over to Auckland Harbour, with the Sky Tower and Harbour Bridge clearly visible. We were fortunate to stay in the very best suite for two/three people. We had a large living area with full kitchen, including a washing machine, dining area, comfortable sofa and armchair, and a flatscreen TV. We had a spacious bedroom with queen-sized bed, walk in wardrobe area and separate bathroom/ wet room. Every single member of staff we came into contact with was attentive, friendly and helpful. In fact, they went the extra mile for us on more than one occasion - nothing was too much trouble. Included in your stay here are two free return ferry tickets per day - perfect for hopping over to the CBD as the Marina and Ferry are 5 minutes walk away. Also, a continental breakfast is included and you can get room service for breakfast and dinner. Wifi and parking are free too as is the use of the gym. Another attraction is the Sunset Bar (which happened to be two steps from our apartment) with panoramic views across the Ocean and Happy Hour. You can eat dinner here if you want to. You are only a short drive from Devonport - a beautiful Victorian village with several lovely wild beaches, or Takapuna with its shops and wide white crescent beach. Takapuna Oaks is great value in every sense, so comes highly recommended...."

"Superb staff, nothing too much trouble. Room was very nice with great views of harbour from most rooms. Really nice kitchen area in rooms, great showers, beds comfy, free parking. Good food in restaurant - had butter chicken and roghan josh curries, really fresh green salad sides and homemade naan and chutney. Hardly anyone used the restaurant and the hotel felt quiet, probably not marketed enough or maybe people think it hard to get to city which it's not, the hotel will give you a free boat return every day, it's 5 minute walk to ferry and then 10 minutes to downtown Auckland on a great mode of transport which gives you extra opportunity to see the skyline, etc. Ferries are frequent am and pm and every hour otherwise, finish at 9pm during week but much later sat/sun. Hotel also very close to Davenport village - nice place to chill for a day with lots of cafes and nice shops, restaurants. Free parking and wifi too although wifi is limited to 200mb per day, unless downloading films or such then more than adequate. Breakfast was included in our rate, basic breakfast of a good yoghurt, muesli/cornflakes, toast and jams/butter, and good fresh fruit but you can pay for a fry up or suchlike. "Auckland Takapuna Oaks is an ideal location for those looking to stay in close proximity to all the attractions that Auckland has to offer, but without the noise and traffic jams of downtown. It's conveniently situated across the bay (known as Shoal Bay) with wonderful views of the city skyline. This serviced apartment has all the basic amenities that this type of accommodation has to offer. Our room was very clean and tidy with a decent sized kitchen featuring an electric stove, dishwasher, fridge, etc. The living room is small but cozy, with a flat screen TV and a small dining table. All rooms on level 1 and 2 have balconies which is fantastic. Our bedroom was quite large for a serviced apartment with an equally large bathroom fitted with a front-load washing machine. The apartment is approximately 16 minutes from downtown, a short drive across the Harbor Bridge (Hwy 1). It's also a 5 minute walk from the Devonport marina and offers free ferry rides into the city center that takes only 10 minutes. Free parking is also available on site which is an added bonus. This serviced apartment is ideal for couples and even families, with great facilities including dining, a bar, and also a small gym. We'd definitely stay there again during our next visit to Auckland. Highly recommended...."

"This is an excellent place to stay for a few days if you are happy not to be in the CBD. Because the hotel provides a free ferry crossing from Bayswater into the centre being out of town is not really an issue (though weekend ferries are infrequent and finish early). The rooms are spotlessly clean with good facilities that are well maintained. Laundry facilities in the bathroom are an added bonus and we also appreciated the free wifi having been charged as much as 8 dollars a day elsewhere. The restaurant/bar has a spectacular view of the bay and harbour bridge and serves reasonably priced food from a limited menu. Staff are friendly and helpful. Complimentary continental breakfast is adequate without being exciting but again in many places we have visited it would be a chargeable extra. All in all very good value for money. Would certainly use it again...."

Takapuna Oaks provides complimentary ferry passes to Auckland CBD which makes it a breeze. The ferry terminal is probably less than a km from the hotel. I thought we had booked a king, on arrival we were told all of the rooms had queen beds, however the bed was very comfortable a pleasant surprise. Evening drinks in the Sky Lounge were a delight, very comfortable with the gas fire place on, a great option to also dine in the lounge - good basic meal, the continental breakfast is a winner as well. The staff were excellent, very friendly and on to it. Thanks for a great stay......"

"We had a really enjoyable stay here. Rooms were clean and tidy with modern fittings. Bed and pillows were really comfortable. I can imagine in summer time it would be a great place to go for walks etc. We will definitely go back to stay on a regular basis...."

"Very well appointed apartment with views of the harbor and the city of Auckland. The unit that we stayed in was recently refurbished and everything was brand new. We loved the proximity to Auckland and the ability to hop on the ferry to head into the city. The staff was very friendly and professional. We plan on staying at Takapuna Oaks when we visit Auckland in the future...."

"The location of this hotel/condo, straight across the bay from Auckland, is unbelievable. Hard to get to but worth it. 180 degree views to the south and of the Auckland bridge. They provide a nice touch - free ferry service to downtown, which makes an otherwise long drive a 10 minute trip to the ferry terminal..."

"The Takapuna Oaks is a surprise find on Auckland's North Shore but so conveniently close by ferry to the city. Not only close to the city but also just down the road from several beautiful beaches and the trendy cafes of Devonport. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and made our visit very pleasant. We spent 11 days at the Takapuna Oaks and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended...."

"Takapuna Oaks was a fabulous place to stay quiet, ideal for families and couples. The views were superb and the staff first rate. We would most definitely recommend it to anyone travelling to Auckland. This is the perfect location to be out of the city but only 8 minutes by ferry which was free of charge with our accommodation. The staff were more than happy to drive us and pick us up anywhere in the proximity of the hotel. Breakfast was provided every day making this a perfect holiday for us. Well done to the Takapuna Oaks team A+++..."

"We booked this hotel based on previous comments on Tripadvisor . We were not disappointed. We knew the location was slightly remote but the free ferry tickets certainly made up for this. The staff were friendly , we arrived a couple of hours early but was not made to feel this was a problem and the room was soon made ready. The apartment was decorated to a high standard and the kitchen looked brand new . Can certainly reccomend this hotel and would stop there again...."

"Excellent in every regard. Clean, comfortable, super staff, nice location. Great amenities: free parking, wifi, breakfast, round-trip ferry daily to Auckland CBD. Enjoyed my 13-day stay and hope to stay there again. Do not hesitate to stay here if you need a hotel in the Bayswater-Devonport-Takapuna area...."

"Only had just an overnight business stay, but the facilities are very good and comfortable. Amazing views at night over Auckland CBD. Very nice apartment with everything you need. Slept really well. Note that you are not downtown, but in a nice residential area. This means it's quiet and peaceful, but you do have to travel a bit to go to restaurants - if needed. Personally, I found this a bonus...."

"Great place to stay near Auckland, NZ. In Bayswater - midway between Takapuna and Devonport. Accomodations were very comfortable, staff was friendly and helpful. Includes free ferry to Auckland CBD. free wireless internet and free parking. Great restaurants and pubs in both Devonport and Takapuna (5 minutes drive). You will want some ground transport of your own...."

"We stayed for just one night before leaving NZ and found Takapuna to be all it promised on its website. We had a comfortable and well-equipped one-bed apartment (excellent for anyone staying for a few days and wanting to self-cater) and a pleasant enough breakfast. We drove down to the harbour for a meal and altogether had a very good send off after our five week trip...."

"New, two storey apt hotel overlooking the Sound. Everything in the kitchen incl.salt/pepper,dishwash and handwash clothes sachets, washing machine powder for the washer/DRIER . minibar even incl. headache tablets. Across the bay from the centre, which we wanted as a respite from city centres on our round-the -world trip. Good choice on Booking.com.We hired a car from the little Auckland International airport, but they have a free minibus to take you to the ferry and local pretty seaside town, Devonport. Free wi fi in room and free pc in lobby, great views of the city from the upstairs lounge, from where you can get a decent value meal.Continental breakfast included, but full cooked American if you wish to pay extra. Wet room shower, balcony, barbie if you wish to cook outside. Accomodatiom- like most service it is about the macro and micro. The macro is the great rooms, the micro is every detail covered better than almost ant other room we have stayed in. Thje only extra we would have liked would be air-con.We slept with the patio door open for a breeze in NZ autumn, but it may have been hot in the summer...."

"The accomodation was modern, clean and very spacious. I was extremely impressed as it was high above the standard of my previous accomodation in the area 4 weeks earlier which was only $20 cheaper. The staff member at the front desk was friendly and helpful when I arrived earlier than expected. Overall I thought was very good value for money, with lots of facilities which unfortunately I didn't have time to take advantage of. Maybe next time- I have booked again for my next visit in 4 weeks...."
